Vintage watches are infectious. You know it, I know it...everyone knows it. If you haven't checked out the new men's magazine Man of the World then you're missing out. The magazine is 95% editorial, but it is also 5% commerce. The exhibit at the Pop Up Flea really brought that commerce piece to life. Between Hodinkee and the MOTW booths, I had my fix of dope bezels and such. There wasn't really any black-on-black but that doesn't take away from the fact the watches are cool as hell.
Beggars can't be choosers anyway...I don't have $16,000, let alone $3,000 to purchase an entry level Rolex on a ribbon bracelet any damn way. I do like seeing the stuff though. They go perfect with our modern updates of menswear style. And if you're one of the "authentic bros" then they are even more perfect for your aesthetic. The "give me selvedge or give me death" kids were probably foaming at the mouth when they passed the booth. Now, I just need to work on finding a patron or entirely too nice person with a Black Card. Once I do...I'm going in!
