Some of you may remember I used to do a section of the blog called "Watch Me Dress," and while that is now few and far between, I do find opportunities here and there to show off my personal style. This time around, I've partnered with Canvas Lands' End to give you guys a chance to win some gift cards! I'm also always thrilled to interpret brands the way I see fit, and Canvas Lands' End was kind enough to let me style myself for their blogger initiative.
There are a couple things in my wardrobe that I own a lot of - denim, chambray, shoes - and I took this opportunity to add even more to the chambray category. Canvas' Guildsman chambray workshirt features white stitching details and an improved fit over past seasons. It is lightweight without feeling flimsy and weak. Picking an easy blue shirt gives me the ability to showcase some bolder colors and patterns elsewhere. I already own just about every color pant available, including fabric variations, but one direction I've never gone is mustard. The pant I'm wearing is the Comer 608 slim fit chino in rich mustard, which is a new silhouette and color for Canvas. I must admit, I haven't been a huge fan of fits coming from Canvas Lands' End over the first couple of seasons that I've known them. Fit for me is always difficult anyways, so it isn't their fault completely. On receiving this season's chino, I have changed my opinion completely. The fit is slim from the top to the bottom without being uncomfortable at all. The fabric is garment dyed which makes the coloration exhibit a richer saturation. The hand is substantial; a huge leap of progress over pieces I've owned from Canvas in the past.
Styling around these casual pieces was a breeze. I had my pop of color, my comfortable chambray, and a soft t-shirt underneath; now all I needed was the peripherals. I went with a camo hat and camo pocket square in the back pocket. I actually use my heavier pocket squares and bandanas to wipe sweat during the humid, sweltering months...gotta love function! My snap backpack with canvas exterior and leather details is perfect to tote around all my film and cameras...and my Nike Safari's, although black, are just what I need for comfort after all the walking and running during New York Fashion Week. There you have it, styling that has some bold color without too much fuss, and amazingly affordable.
Ok, contest time! You can win a $100 gift card, or the grand prize $500 gift card by participating in the Canvas Lands' End "Pin It to Win It Chino Challenge!" See below for the rules and make sure to see tomorrow's blogger by heading over to Eye4Style.
