Lands’ End Canvas Spring 2012 | Fashion

I’m always elated to hear when Lands’ End Canvas is debuting a new collection.  It has nothing to do with the excitement around your typical fashion show or presentation.  I’m excited because it’s an opportunity to touch base with some truly creative people that are plugged into the scene.  They grab inspiration from the town they are headquartered in; they peruse the blogosphere; they talk to tastemakers.  The joy is in seeing what they come up with when that process reaches an end.

For spring, Lands’ End Canvas has chosen to grab the influence and inspiration of types of towns.  You’ll see the coffee shop, almost Parisian feel, and then you’ll navigate closer to Lands’ Ends roots where you’ll find the true boating inspiration.  A fun twist to this season’s presentation was a mural being painted; and get this, anyone could participate with the art students.  I think it is the interaction of thought, idea, inspiration, and conversation that make this brand a special one.  Yes, there are brands doing similar things…the world is a huge place, what do you expect.  I tend to have an appreciation for anything that’s done with honesty and integrity, and find that in the humility of Lands’ End’s merchants and creatives.

Take a look at some of the cool clothing pieces they’ve designed for the spring.  My pictures probably don’t do any of it justice but I really got a kick out of the DB knit blazer with heritage buttons.  There is also an indigo blazer that will bleed into your shirt or whatever you wear under it.  I love that they aren’t afraid of slapping the warning tags into the garment and selling it.  I would love for some indigo transfer on my chambray shirts.  LEC made a really awesome belt that cinches using the same idea as some sort of mechanics on a boat – I never was a sailor so I’m falling short on vocabulary.  I also loved their use of chambray in swim trunks and the double-fabric knit tie.  They’ve got the right amount of classic mixed in with the right about of ingenuity.

And for your tumblr pleasure, more pictures will be released today and tomorrow after this article!
