ENK NYC 2011 | Events
Yes, it is true I take my time releasing pictures. You know what, when you are getting the good stuff, you have to be patient. Trade shows are tough to cover because there is so much material to sort through, that well, you put off sorting through it. No biggie though, I think I narrowed it down to the items that are worthy of your acknowledgement and interest. So here you have it, ENK NYC in pictures and words. Have at it!
J. Fold – A small leather goods and canvas bag maker, J. Fold kills it at an affordable price. Man bags can be a difficult sell, but I never feel my masculinity challenged when rocking a decent-sized waxed canvas bag by J. Fold. There is something awesome about the way waxed canvas ages and gets beat up with use. The stitching and colorways yield are dope too…not to mention an extremely sexy price.
Fifth Avenue Shoe Repair – The aesthetic of this line is incredibly unique, and outstandingly cool. I’m not sure I could wiggle my way into a lot of these clothes, but I can sure admire them from afar. The ultra-wide chambray lapels with navy blue piping is exquisite, not to mention them being plopped down on a red blazer – so unexpected! I love the cardigan with ripped holes. Some of you may be remembering the days of ripped jeans, but this is nothing like it. This is sophisticated edge; I can totally endorse it.
Bed Stu – I don’t admire all of their shoes, but this is a favorite model of mine. I think they have some cool choices in their line up. It’s always important to have some rugged boots made for walking, building, or styling. This one makes the cut.
Unknown – I wish I could remember this brand, or at least find the business card of the sales person who was pushing it. I’m not sure if the shorts belong with the tops above, but they are all definitely wardrobe ready. The shorts are my favorite as they come with that asymmetric cuff roll. The pockets are huge with great stitching, although I could deal with not having the zipper embellishment. It’s always a good idea to put some sort of stamp on clothes that have this authentic, work wear type of feeling. It just gives the piece an interesting look. The knits have a great hand-feel, not to mention some grungy finishings, like the neck of the crew t-shirt.
Zanerobe – Aussies are killing it, too bad there isn’t more flooding the North American shores. I’m digging the patterns and the cool surfer, casual vibe that Zanerobe brings to the table. The shorts and tanks just ooze cool, and the fabrics are insane.
Ivy Prepster – New to me, but not a new category. If you’re going to do prep, why not invite these guys into your life. I’m not crazy about all the colors, as they feel somewhat subdued or like their missing something. However, I know these guys are on to something. It’s their first season, I give them a world of credit for reinventing the idea of prep, especially in this economy. The pocket squares are dope, and their doing some amazing knit ties.
Walk Over – I think the shoes speak for themselves. Would it be far to request a pair of those pink suede saddle shoes, I mean damn. Those shoes are hot. And it’s about time that someone did a white buck with a canvas upper. Out of all the brands I’ve seen, I wouldn’t have expected this would be the one to shake it up. Bravo to the designers over at Walk Over. Now send me shoes! Haha…
